In South Korea, skin care products were readily available. The street was lined with Olive Young and brand stores, making it quite tempting to buy a new item. My companions and I were walking around the streets when we came onto a skincare store with some really good deals. After doing some research, we discovered that these stores sold deadstock of goods that had either changed their packaging or were no longer interested in selling a certain product but had an abundance of inventory. I discovered today’s K-Beauty product, the Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam, at these kinds of businesses, which are fantastic places to try ordinarily expensive items at a large discount.
Ingredients:
As listed on the packaging, the Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam ingredients include Distilled Water, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Copolymer, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Sodium Chloride, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Isostearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Fragrance, Butylene Glycol, Limonene, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Coix Lacryma-Jobi Ma-yuen Seed Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Castanea Crenata (Chestnut) Shell Extract, Linalool, Spirodela Polyrhiza Extract, Dioscorea Japonica Root Extract, Dextrin, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Salicornia Herbacea Extract, Morus Alba Leaf Extract, Angelica Keiskei Extract, Citric Acid, Tocopherol.
The Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam 50ml is a light, liquid foam cleanser with a rich texture that effectively removes pollutants while keeping the skin hydrated, smooth, and clean. According to the manufacturer, this Sulwhasoo cleansing foam uses Hydra Capture Complex™ to maintain moisture even after cleansing. For soft, purified skin, it also includes extracts from Morus alba leaves and Dioscorea Japonica roots.
How to Use:
Make enough foam with water by pumping roughly thrice.
Gently massage your face, then rinse it with warm water.
Thoughts:
The product claims to be a "cleansing foam," but when you pump it, it turns out to be a transparent liquid gel. It foams up slightly after being activated with water and rubbing between the hands, but not as much as other cleansers; I would characterize it more as emulsifying with water. The great thing is that a small amount goes a long way—I was able to wash my entire face with just one or two pumps.
I’ve never been able to identify the cleanser’s subtle scent, but it smells like citrus and herbs and doesn’t linger. I personally find this Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam to be incredibly gentle and soothing on my skin, especially since I have extremely dry skin. Without stripping my face or leaving it feeling tight, it does a fantastic job of cleaning impurities and removing makeup.
If you have dry or sensitive skin, I would definitely recommend adding this Sulwhasoo refreshing cleansing foam to your skincare routine. It’s mild yet effective, providing that fresh, clean feeling without irritation.
However, I wouldn’t suggest using this cleanser by itself if you wear heavy makeup. To ensure that all impurities are removed, I use the Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam as a second cleanser after an oil-based cleanser. It may not fully remove waterproof mascara or heavy lipsticks, but it works wonderfully as a secondary cleanser in a double-cleansing routine.
It’s worth noting that the packaging has changed recently. I found this older version at a discount beauty shop, but the Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam ingredients remain exactly the same as the new packaging.
All things considered, I highly recommend this product. My bottle has lasted me almost a year, and it’s become one of my favorite Sulwhasoo cleansing foam options. Since Sulwhasoo is known for its elegant gift sets, this cleanser paired with other Sulwhasoo skin care products would make a wonderful gift—or a little luxury for yourself. As I near the end of my bottle, I’m honestly sad to stop using it. I’ll probably try other cleansers first, but I know I’ll return to this Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam in the future.
